right on

i took this personal color profile.  it asks you questions you should ask yourself before you start any decorating project. it is supposed to help you decide which color combinations are best suited for your personality.  i'm stunned at how right on it is.  the colors soothe me.  the style comforts me.  take your own personal color profile quiz here.  www.prattandlambert.com/color/personality-quiz/interior/index.jsp

here are my results.
lovely.

Raffia is a collection of neutrals and interesting greens that signify a timeless appreciation of diversity. A person drawn to this palette appreciates texture and the importance of tactility in all surfaces. They wish for a sophisticated environment that is also casual. They seek a balance with nature and time.

hunky hunter

he's home.
beard, dirt, and campfire smell.
i'll bet you're jealous that this hunky hunter didn't come home to you.
too bad.
he came home to me.
i'm a happy girl.

fashionistas

can a not far from 60 year old pull this off?  i love this outfit.  i want it badly.  but i don't want to spend $129.00 on it and then look silly.  so, what do you think?  and what kind of shoes would one wear with this outfit?  sandals yes, but what about winter when my little toesies get chilly.

social engagement

today i had a date.  a date with a most captivating and delightful four year old.  we had lunch out (burger king...her choice), a trip to bookman's (a reading of "there's a witch under the stairs"), a trip to target (had to get one of those blue raspberry icees) and a trip to the dollar store (pom poms were needed).  it was a day to remember.

p.s.  any other progeny who might like a date with nana?

p.p.s.  if you answer i'll know you read my blog.  that's got to be good for an extra treat don't you think?

how cool is this?

way cool if you ask me.  if you want to see more of these, click on curbly diy design on my sidebar.  an awesome site with so many awesome ideas...this one, so unexpected and like nothing i've seen before, has me smiling.

my new therapy

this is my friend and walking buddy, gretchen whitney. she is a masseuse. a fabulous masseuse. this afternoon she gave me my very first full body massage. why, oh why have i waited so long. gretchen is a masseuse who comes to you. with calming music and sweet, fresh linens. her hands are heavenly. smooth and strong. and she does this ever so soothing circle motion thing. and she has the most exotic scented lotions. and talks in this quiet, peaceful, calming voice. explaining everything as she goes. i feel amazingly divine and relaxed.  that boy i live with is sure gonna be sorry he missed this.

is there a locksmith in the house?

this boy better hurry home soon. otherwise i might change the locks. here's how it goes. the first couple of days he's gone i'm okay...i enjoy doing my own thing and working on my little projects into the wee hours of the morning. the next couple of days he's gone i really miss him and i get all teary eyed and walk around the house like i'm lost. but after that...oh after that i'm so mad at him for still being gone i want to hang him by his toenails.

can you guess where i'm at right now?

could i be a minimalist...

this is how i decorate for fall.

fall is just a precursor to christmas..which is a precursor to spring which is a precursor to summer.
hurry back summer.
i miss you already.

what's a girl to do

when she doesn't want to do anything? i hate days like today. no motivation. no passion. no nothing. oh, except emotional eating. i won't even begin to tell you what i ate today. take my word for it...i'm a wretched pig. now i know why i'm this way. it happens the same time every year. it's hunting season. and it begins tomorrow. (well, actually it began september 1st with sighting in of scopes and guns and talk of units and perusing of topographical maps and shopping for more hunting gear and ammo and anything camoflague.) it goes on until the end of january. it makes me crazy. crazy i tell you. but it does make the boy i live with very happy. i try to be excited for him. to act like i'm interested. he does love it so. but it is just too much. too dang much. i have dead animals on my walls. stuffed dead animals. just how is a girl supposed to decorate around stuffed, dead animals. i love you babe. but somethings got to give. otherwise you're gonna be left with one real fat mama!

crafting, shakespeare and legends

i'm in one of my most favorite places...my little creative space.  shakespeare once said, "i could easily spend my days here".   so here i am, in my very own room.  crafting, contemplating shakespeare and watching legends of the fall.  and here is my latest creation.  a magnet board.  forget bulletin boards.  i wanted a magnet board.  so i could use the sweet little marble magnets that i made last week.  crafting with magnets, marbles, coke zero, and brad pitt.  a grand day don't you think!

p.s.  my custom blog is in the queue...third from the top.  i'm next.  i can't wait!

p.p.s.  every crafter should have a vinyl cutting machine.  i heart mine.

p.p.p.s  i really need a new camera.  please santa.  i've been a good girl.  sometimes a really good girl.

1969 high school musical

me, penny, and sandi.
penny and sandi were cheerleaders.
i was a pom pom.
some think we still got it.

this past weekend was my 40th high school reunion. i didn't attend...too scared. but one of my very good friends and college roommates, penny peterman, came down from colorado to attend. another gal from high school, sandi white, and i got together with penny after the big event. penny filled us in on all the "scoop" which we all know is the best part of any high school reunion. we had a great time visiting, reliving, laughing, and gossiping about the "old days". thanks girls i had a great time! and i can't wait to do it again!

having fun

a friend asked me to redo her daughter's bedroom. i have chosen a parisian theme. in black and pink. with harlequin accents. and zebra prints. and a headboard that i will make/build. and a crystal and silver lamp. i will post the after pictures, well, after its done.

the fruits of my labor

carrie and i ordered a case of pears from bountiful baskets (i'm now a fan) to share. they were beautiful pears on saturday. today not so much. so i had to do something fast. i decided to can pear preserves. pretty easy but my recipe called for a quick canning process (meaning there is no hot water bath). i don't know how they will taste but they sure look pretty don't you think.

p.s. yipee, i just heard one seal pop. only 8 more pints to go.
